Broughton Hall is a stunning Grade I listed stately home located on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park near the town of Skipton. The vast Broughton Hall Estate has been owned by the Tempest family since 1097, with the Grade I listed Hall dating back to 1597. The Hall has remained in the same family for generations, through to the 31st generation of the Tempest family who have lovingly restored Broughton Hall to the luxurious family home it is today.
The two wings on either side of the Hall were added in 1810 by William Atkinson, the renowned architect who was also responsible for the magnificent Durham Cathedral. The family have acquired an enviable collection of fine art, furnishings and Gillow furniture over the centuries, which are beautifully displayed within the Hall.
The quintessentially English interiors offer elegance and style in abundance. The magnificent State Rooms are spacious and flooded with natural light thanks to the huge picture windows giving breathtaking views over the grounds and surrounding countryside. From the opulent Red Drawing Room with stunning gilded ceilings and a fabulous chandelier to the majestic Dining Room, Broughton Hall will delight and amaze your guests.
The beautiful Conservatory was added in the 19th century and is a perfect place to get away from it all, or join in with the fun and frivolity in the Billiards Room or relax with the latest movie in the cinema room.
Guests at Broughton Hall can access Avalon, the Estate’s state-of-the-art wellbeing centre, opened in 2019. Located just a short walk from the Hall it offers a beautiful low chlorine indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, treatment rooms, a gym, a personalised meditation pod and offers a myriad of wellness activities from sound healing, crystal light therapy, yoga, massage and medical herbalism. Exclusive use of Avalon can be arranged for an additional fee, and bespoke wellness programmes can be arranged.
There are endless ways to enjoy Great British outdoors here, from the on-site Land Rover Experience Centre, forest bathing, sweat lodge, labyrinth, tennis court, wild swimming, and foraging with the head chef to use at the Estate’s ‘fire temple’, a unique outdoor location where guests can cook their own dishes on the open fire, complete with its own bar.
The roaring log fires make the house wonderfully cosy in winter time, with bracing winter walks through beautiful countryside close by. Or in summer time, throw open the conservatory doors and immerse yourself in the grounds, including beautiful formal gardens, landscaped parkland, rivers and woodland, to discover the joys of nature and the outdoors. Broughton Hall is surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with stunning scenery and many activities available on your doorstep.
The beautiful bedrooms are individually designed and elegantly furnished, with luxurious bed linen and supremely comfortable beds to ensure a good nights’ sleep.
The bedrooms have beautiful views over the surrounding parkland and formal gardens. Most of the bedrooms benefit from en-suite bathrooms, with two additional family bathrooms available. There are two single bedrooms and one twin bedroom to offer flexible accommodation for groups.
Within the grounds of the Estate are 12 additional cottages, ranging from a hermit hut through to an impressive 6 bedroom country house, offering additional accommodation for your group, or options for staff accommodation. The cottages are within easy reach of the Hall, yet each enjoys its own isolated setting with lovely views over the surrounding parkland.
The grounds of the Broughton Hall Estate extend to over 3,000 acres, with beautiful formal gardens adjacent to the Hall, landscaped parkland, woodland and rivers, with lovely rural walks and cycle rides through the Estate. There are good fishing opportunities in the river for keen anglers, and fantastic opportunities for nature watching and bird spotting.

The superb chef creates bespoke menus according to individual tastes and preferences, from fish and chips in front of the fire to a sensory tasting experience to a banquet for 80 guests. The wine cellar is at guests’ disposal and wine tasting and cellar tours can be arranged with the Sommelier.
For guests looking to throw a party, the Estate offers amazing facilities. Utopia is a stunning contemporary glass sided building located in its own delightful walled garden, able to seat up to 120 people for dining and is wonderful for parties.
Alternatively Eden, one of the properties in the Estate, has a vast living space opening out onto its own grounds with beautiful views, ideal for standing receptions and celebrations.
