The Arisan Estate is set in an enviable position with beautiful views across the grounds to a private lake and the River Windrush below, with some of the most beautiful gardens of any property in England. Arisan Manor, Barn, The Cow Byre and Peacock Barn are all located within the Arisan Estate, linked by pathways through the grounds and just a stone’s throw from each other, making them ideal for large group accommodation.
Arisan Manor is one of the oldest buildings in the idyllic Cotswold village of Temple Guiting, dating back to the 14th century. The Manor was mentioned in the Domesday Book and is said to be associated with the Knights Templar; whom the village of Temple Guiting is named after.
The Cotswolds are widely regarded as being the most beautiful region in England, full of heritage and tradition complemented by the honey coloured limestone buildings and charming towns and villages.
Both the Manor and the Barn have wonderful large living spaces for guests to congregate and spend time together, with a magnificent banqueting hall in the Manor seating a maximum of 24 guests for meals (for 14 guests or more chair hire is required), in addition to the Dining Hall. Each property has its own kitchen facilities for ease and comfort, and we can of course arrange any catering you may wish to make your stay even more relaxing.
There are two hot tubs within the Estate, one tucked behind a secret door in the Manor, and one within the beautiful courtyard at the Barn. There is also a tennis court within the grounds, and the dining table in the Banqueting Hall cleverly converts to a full size snooker table in between meal times.
The Arisan Estate is steeped in history, extensively refurbished and meticulously restored by the current owners under the guidance of the noted architect and member of the English Heritage Advisory Committee, Ptolemy Dean. There are an abundance of original features throughout the properties such as exposed oak beams, Cotswold stone fireplaces, original timbered doors, beautiful stone mullioned windows and the honey coloured hue of exposed Cotswolds stone walls, creating a stunning luxurious space full of history and grandeur. There is even a beautiful mediaeval “secret” spiral staircase leading off one of the Manor lounges to one of the bedrooms, discovered when renovating the property.
The elegant Manor interior offers exquisite antique furniture and original paintings, with rich fabrics and sumptuous rugs creating a welcoming space with cosy roaring log fires to warm fingers and toes after long country walks. The Barn, Cow Byre and Peacock Barn add a touch of glamour, with more contemporary touches combined with beautiful French crystal chandeliers and antique furniture. The sleek white gloss kitchen in the Barn adds a sense of contemporary cool, with rustic beams and wonderful open plan dining space affording beautiful views thanks to the floor to ceiling windows.
Despite the traditional feel of the estate, all three properties offer every modern convenience you could wish for, with complementary Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, Sky TV, DVD players, plasma televisions and laptops available for guests’ use. There are also some quirky technological features, such as a mirror on the wall that converts to a flat screen TV at the touch of a button, and cleverly concealed speakers.
There are five bedrooms in the Manor, five bedrooms in the Barn and one bedroom each in the Peacock Barn and the Cow Byre, plus a sofa bed in the Cow Byre living room which can sleep an additional two children, accommodating up to 22 adults and 2 children. All of the bedrooms have luxury en-suite or private bathrooms, with quality fixtures by Hansgrohe and Duravit and luxury toiletries by Green and Spring. The bedrooms are all individually designed and offer a luxurious retreat at the end of the day, with super-comfortable mattresses and quality bed linen and towels. Several of the rooms can be arranged as either doubles or twin beds, offering flexible accommodation options for larger groups and families.
The Peacock Barn can also be an ideal location for corporate retreats and business meetings in sophisticated surroundings. The Peacock Barn is located within the beautiful Peacock Garden, tucked away from the main accommodation to afford complete privacy. The space here can be set up as an elegant meeting room, beautifully furnished for up to 10 delegates, and has its own separate washroom facilities and kitchenette.
Finish off the day with a lavish dinner, summer BBQ or cocktail party catered for by our fabulous private chefs in the luxurious Manor or Barn dining rooms, or alfresco on the terrace soaking in the beautiful views.
Outside, the extensive grounds extend to 14.5 acres and have been beautifully designed by the award winning Jinny Blom, creating the perfect space for summer drinks receptions or barbeques. Adjacent to the Manor is a lawn with a terrace, table, chairs and BBQ behind the house with stunning far reaching views, leading to formal gardens with topiary, roses, wild flowers, lavender and water features. The grounds extend to a private lake and an all-weather full sized tennis court. A tiny doorway leads through to an amazing triple height space with a cedar wood hot tub, perfect for sipping a chilled glass of champagne with friends.
A pathway leads through the formal gardens towards the Barn and the Cow Byre, just two minutes’ walk from the Manor. The Barn boasts a wonderful private courtyard garden with a beautiful terrace with outdoor seating and dining areas perfect for alfresco meals with food from the barbeque. Pretty flower beds and intricate topiary lead to a stone terrace with a cedar hot tub, surrounded by the delicate scent of lavender. The peacock garden is laid to lawn with beautiful wild flowers and gorgeous views over rolling countryside to the lake below. Next to the Cow Byre is a topiary garden with beautiful views towards the River Windrush.
