Farleigh Wallop is in a magical setting in the heart of Jane Austen country, set amongst verdant grounds in Hampshire with a 4,500 acre private estate, yet just one hour from central London. The mighty gates and tree lined drive set the scene for this impressive property, the ancestral seat of the Earl of Portsmouth.
The elegant, light filled interiors are beautifully furnished, yet never feel stuffy or pretentious, and whilst the vast ceilings and windows create a grand feel, the house remains cosy and welcoming. There are numerous sitting rooms of varying sizes, from the beautiful grand Drawing Room to the unique Octagon room, with beautiful far reaching views over the grounds.
The Dining Room seats up to 23 guests on one table or up to a maximum of 40 people, and can host receptions for up to 50 people in the house. There are spaces for music and dancing indoors, outdoors and poolside. There is also an area ideal for a marquee adjacent to the main house, complete with water, electric and drainage supplies, along with a commercial kitchen on the lower ground floor, making Farleigh Wallop a perfect choice for celebrations and large events.
The 11 sumptuous bedrooms offer luxurious linens and soft fluffy towels, with 6 fixed doubles, 4 rooms that can be twin or double and 1 single bedroom, along with 10 bathrooms.
House guests are free to use the beautiful country kitchen and raid the larder and house bar, or your butler will be happy to arrange anything for you so you need not lift a finger. Guests will also have the full exclusive use of the estate’s leisure amenities, with a beautiful billiards room and home cinema with games consoles, along with a tennis court, outdoor heated swimming pool (open May – September, weather permitting) with pool house, loungers and a BBQ, the cricket pitch, croquet lawn and idyllic boating lake.
The 10 acres of grounds at Farleigh Wallop are truly beautiful, with manicured lawns, a rose garden, serpentine pathways and secret gardens, a reflection pond, kitchen gardens and magnificent sculptures and topiary. Wandering down the idyllic pathways leads to the boating lake, complete with a rowing boat for guests’ use, and there is an amazing greenhouse full of exotic plants and full of heady aromas.
The wider estate encompasses some 4,500 acres of woodland, orchards, meadows, and pasture, with numerous opportunities for outdoor activities including shooting, horse riding and falconry.
